“One of the most significant things that Oclef has taught me is that encouraging young kids to learn how to play the piano, takes both their parents’ understanding and the child’s enthusiasm…practice is given a different meaning, it is enjoyable, fun, and most of all, it helps the students to become better pianists.”
Julia Pascual is a Junior at Independence High School in San Jose. She’s studied piano with Julian Toha for since 2017. We asked Julia a few questions in a recent interview about her Summer Internship:
1. What work are you doing at Oclef?
“I work at Oclef as an assistant teacher in the different types of classes, inspiring children in embracing their love of music. I also do the research for TohaNotation, making sightreading books easier for both beginner-level students and parents!”
2. What have you learned from being at Oclef?
“One of the most significant things that Oclef has taught me is that encouraging young kids to learn how to play the piano, takes both their parents’ understanding and the child’s enthusiasm. Teachers at Oclef inspire the future generation of amazing pianists through the different age-group classes, multiple supervised practices, music theory classes, and one-on-one classes. At Oclef, practice is given a different meaning, it is enjoyable, fun, and most of all, it helps the students to become better pianists.”
Julia is at Oclef multiple days per week this summer. If you see her around, introduce yourself and get to know her.
With care,
The Oclef Team
